Hey, I'm off to Tucson Arizona next week to shoot at an expo and wanted to spend a day getting lots of good establishers and GV's (sunsets, roads, culture, locals, landmarks etc). Has anyone shot in Tucson? It would be great to hear about any 'must see' spots and recommended locations I should visit Many thanks, Paul

Tucson; have shot there a few times-basically you will have to go out of town for desert as it is a big place -there are giant cactus etc about but i'd suggest an old trick I have used all round the world when time is tight-buy a book of postcards or the tourist guides at the airport shops or go to the visitors bureau in Tucson.Someone else has done the hard work ie a photographer.Ask anyone where the view is ie cop, truckstop but NOT a conveninece store as they know zip..you will understand if you try one! Good luck, Paul Watson

I was in Tucson for a few days last April. It is quite large and incredibly flat - very little over 2 stories high - so sweeping panoramas of the town may not be on the agenda. It could have been a spring heatwave, but the temperature was well north of 100 Fahrenheit every day, so be thankful you're not going in summer. That must be unbearable.
The light in the mornings and evenings is amazing, and I liked the streets near the mountains on the northern side of the city, but in general Paul's advice above is excellent.
Tombstone, the cowboy town, is ridiculously photogenic, but it's a good 90 minutes drive away, and not Tucson of course. Anyway, have fun!

Thanks for the replies guys, had a great time filming out there, shot loads of great stuff - I just wanted to update this for anyone reading this planning a Tucson shoot, the key areas to cover to give a good taste of the city and its vibe are: *Downtown/4th Avenue area (trendy shops, bars, cafes) *The old Cathedral and old Pima Court House *University Mountain (Sentinal Point) for the main city scape, panorama *Gates Pass for country/cactus/mountains and great time lapse sunset opportunity *'Tucson Inn' - an old run down motel with a really cool/kitsch sign
Enjoy!
