Art Department Manager

YMBBT is renowned for creating interactive theatre experiences that audiences have described as life-changing. Our previous work has been critically acclaimed, receiving numerous five-star reviews. Performances take place in empty London landmark buildings, with each production becoming more elaborate, inventive, and ambitious than the one before.

YMBBT is a creative, not-for-profit enterprise. The production is supported by an army of committed professionals, supporters and volunteers who together bring the show to life.

As an Art Department Manager, you will be responsible for the management and delivery of the Art Department, working closely with the Community Art Department Manager and a group of volunteers to deliver the props and materials for the set throughout the production. It is paramount that all sets are highly detailed creating a level of realism that immerses audiences in the concepts they'll be put into

WHAT YOU WILL DO
* Recruit and manage a small team of volunteers to assist you with delivering the responsibilities of the Art Department
* Line Management responsibility for the Community Art Department Manager and subsequent team of volunteers
* Direct the team in sourcing of all props, set decoration and lighting needed for each scene to schedule, including logistics and storage arrangements
* Partner with the Production Manager to ensure all scenes are delivered on time and to budget
* Hold overall accountability for the prop management, stock replenishment and tracking in YMBBT's database

YOU WILL BRING
* Experience in managing volunteers
* Relevant experience within theatre art department management and administration, production and/or events.
* Exceptional organisational and multitasking abilities, with a focus on details and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and handle unexpected challenges.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to effectively communicate information and work collaboratively with diverse teams.
* Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Proactive problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate issues and develop effective solutions.
* A genuine passion for the performing arts and a commitment to contributing to the success of YMBBT.

IDEALLY, YOU WILL ALSO HAVE
* Industry knowledge, a solid understanding of theatre art department processes and terminology.
* Established connections within the theatre industry, including contacts with vendors, suppliers, and talent
