Assistant Commissioner

This is an opportunity to join BBC Film, the feature filmmaking arm within the Content division of the BBC. At the forefront of British independent film, BBC Film commissions around 15 films a year. Role Responsibility
You will work closely with Head of Department and Commissioners on a wide range of projects in development, and with colleagues in the wider BBC Film team across all of BBC Film activity. You will track new projects and seek out and engage with exciting new and established talent across short form and features. You will produce key editorial script notes to an extremely high standard and in a timely fashion. You will be responsible for following projects through development into production, attending screenings or watching cuts online and providing cut notes to a high standard. You will consider and respond to new submissions and materials and recommend projects for further consideration.

The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with a thorough understanding of the UK Film industry and knowledge of other creative industries, such as theatre, art, games and publishing. You will have an extensive network of contacts in the UK and abroad within film. You will have sound editorial judgement and will also have an understanding of production. The ideal candidate will be someone who has a strong passion both in terms of output and talent on and off screen and be able to spot new opportunities. You will have a proven track record of identifying, developing and promoting new talent. You will have a good understanding of the domestic and international market, and the ability to identify content and talent that can resonate with UK audiences. .
