Assistant Producer Accelerator Programme

The Assistant Producer Accelerator Programme is a 12 month fixed term contract with training offered by BBC Studios Production.

Locations: Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Salford or London (Genre Dependent).

We are looking for Researchers who want to take the next step and become the next generation of stand-out Assistant Producers.

BBC Studios' reputation is for leading the way in innovative storytelling and production techniques. It is the most-awarded British production company in the UK today with 79 awards and over 300 nominations to our name in the past financial year.

Each year we produce more than 2500 hours of high-quality, distinctive programmes that cover everything from natural history, history and documentaries, science and arts, factual and factual entertainment, to entertainment and music.

The programme is specifically designed to equip the next generation of Assistant Producers with the knowledge, skills and networks needed to make the move from Researcher to Assistant Producer. You will receive best in class bespoke training as well as a job placement in the genre in which you excel or have a demonstrable interest in.

With that in mind, we want to attract the broadest range of talent to the programme, with a clear commitment to the Nations & Regions with placements across all our production bases. Main Responsibilities
The programme is designed to take 14 skilled Researchers from across the industry, and will be a 12 month funded training programme within BBC Studios Production. The programme consists of a combination of bespoke training alongside practical on the job experience embedded within a genre for the year. Throughout the scheme there will be three training events per month, including workshops and masterclasses by industry leaders.

By the end of the programme, the Researchers will be prepped with the skills and knowledge ready to make the step up to Assistant Producer.

We are looking for placements in the following genres and locations:
* Factual Entertainment Unscripted - Bristol (one role) & Cardiff (one role)
* Natural History Unit - Bristol (two roles)
* Documentaries - Cardiff (one role) , Glasgow (one role) & Salford (one role)
* Factual Entertainment - London (two roles)
* Entertainment - Cardiff (one role), Salford (one role) &London(one role)
* Science - Glasgow (one role) & London (one role)

Applicants may only apply for a maximum of two different genres.

Are you the right candidate?
We would love to hear from you if:
* You have at least three broadcast or online Researcher credits
* You have no previous Assistant Producer credits
* You will be able to demonstrate a passion for storytelling
* Ability to develop creative ideas, which engage diverse audiences in a demanding creative environment.

You do not need to have specific genre experience in the genre(s) you apply to, but you will need to be able to demonstrate proven knowledge and experience of the genre you are applying for. This can be relevant paid employment, academic qualifications or significant other experience.
