Assistant Producer

London

Kapow Primary is seeking an experienced assistant producer to support in the creation of high-quality video content across our website and social channels. The right candidate will be highly motivated and creative, and eager to get stuck into the whole video production process. They'll embody our friendly, informed tone of voice and will relish a fun challenge.

This is a full-time, 6-month contract. The role will require a minimum of 3 days per week based at our offices in London Bridge.

Reporting to the Head of video, and working alongside internal video editors and freelancers, you will use your editorial judgement to ensure high quality and best practices throughout the team to support our video publication deadlines.

This role would be perfect for a junior assistant producer who has had scriptwriting experience, and is ready to take the next step in their career.

What you will do

Under the guidance and direction of our Head of video, you will:

Work closely with educators and subject matter experts to edit and refine scripts in line with our tone and house style.
Review first cuts of videos.
Assist with filming production including: preparing autocue scripts and assets for filming, picture research, rushes organisation, filming props and shot lists.
Some basic audio editing where necessary.
Assist with scheduling of studio filming, presenters and guests.
Produce marketing materials with our video edit team.

Essential

You will have:
Relevant professional experience with a bachelor's degree or equivalent in media, video production, English, or related field, or a substantial amount of professional experience without a degree.
An excellent command of written English and grammar.
Experience producing short-form videos in a professional environment.
Exceptional scriptwriting and storytelling skills.
An acute eye for detail.
Basic audio editing skills.
Picture/footage research experience - you will be familiar using stock libraries and have knowledge of rights processes and licensing restrictions.
A flexible, proactive, positive attitude. You will need to be well-organised and able to work with a high level of autonomy.
The ability to be a team player and work well with others, including video editors, freelance contractors, content creators, graphic designers and our project manager.

Desired experience

Experience of making educational content, ideally for the UK primary school market.
Experience coordinating and assisting on shoots.
Experience of working with stock footage libraries.
Experience producing short-form videos.

Experience across the entire video creation process, equipment and technology.
Fastidious, yet creative, knows how to prioritise.
Excellent written/verbal communication skills.
