Job Description:The Wall Street Journal is looking for a London-based audio producer for our podcasting team. You will work with newsroom reporters and editors, as well as video colleagues, to develop and produce daily news briefs and podcasts. A professional background in audio journalism, top-notch writing skills and strong experience producing in the studio and the field are essential for this role.As an audio producer, you will be responsible for editing and mixing multiple audio packages daily. A strong understanding of the news and good editorial judgment are key, as are quick and accurate audio editing skills with a standard DAWS (Adobe Audition or Pro Tools preferred).The position is based in our London offices and reports to the Supervising Producer, What's News AM.To apply, please submit your résumé, a cover letter clearly outlining how your skills and experience meet or exceed the key candidate requirements and five links to past work that represents the type of work described. Candidates who do not submit cover letters will not be considered.You will:Research topics of interest to The Wall Street Journal's audienceBook and record interviews, edit clips and briefs, mix full episodesCoordinate with reporters and editors in New York, Hong Kong, and other officesPropose new and original ideas for timely and relevant programmingServe as a backup editor for our daily morning news podcastManage multiple projects in various stages of productionFact-check and ensure that all journalistic and legal standards are followedBe able to work from 6 a.m. London time on weekdays and during some holidays as part of a regular rotation and as news developments warrant.You have:At least three years of experience serving as an audio producer in a daily news environment, preferably at a global news organizationExperience working on news podcasts, preferably with a business focusA track record of producing quality audio content efficiently under tight deadlineKnowledge of current events, U.S. and world politics, economics, and a nose for newsSkills operating studio boards as well as field equipmentA professional-level understanding of Adobe Audition, Pro Tools or another DAWThe ability to communicate clearly and a collaborative spiritThe Journal's reporters, editors, developers, and audio and visual journalists create important and impactful stories, firmly rooted in fact and adhering to the highest ethical standards.
