Role summary:
The Broadcast Engineer is a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation and maintenance of broadcast systems and equipment. This position involves providing technical support to staff, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with various teams to address and resolve technical challenges promptly. They may also take on or contribute to project work. They are expected to continually be learning, growing, and sharing knowledge and expertise.


Key responsibilities and main tasks:
• Ensure GB News is on air without interruption

• Technical Support:

o Respond to and resolve technical issues reported by broadcast operators, ensuring minimal disruption to live broadcasts.
o Provide remote and on-site support for broadcast equipment and systems and associated technology.
o Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software issues in real-time.
o Collaborate with others to address complex technical problems efficiently.
o Conduct routine and preventive maintenance on systems to identify and address potential issues before they impact operations.
o Support outside broadcasts and other GB News events

• Collaboration:

o Work closely with other staff, stakeholder and vendors to address cross-functional technical and workflow challenges.
o Communicate effectively with end-users and collaborate with different departments to understand their technical requirements.
o Participate in the research of new initiatives both planned and self-driven
o Contribute to project work

• Documentation:

o Maintain detailed records of support requests, solutions provided, and equipment configurations.

o Contribute to the creation and updating of technical documentation for broadcast systems.

• Emergency Response:

o Be available for on-call support during critical broadcasts or in the event of system failures.
o Respond quickly to emergency situations, troubleshoot, and implement solutions to restore service.

• Other appropriate duties as required.

What you will bring to GB News
The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude, flexible with shifts and thrive in a high paced live environment.

Television production studio or practical experience at college / higher education facility would be highly regarded but not necessary.
Must have high level communication skills, as well as attention to detail.
Knowledge and competence in the operation of production video, audio, intercom, cameras, and record/playback is desirable.
Flexibility in the working week, with different dates and shifts.
Demonstrated ability to problem solve in time critical situations.
Must be available to work a variety of schedules based on production needs.
A strong sense of ownership and honesty when undertaking duties.
Have a positive attitude, adaptability, and responsiveness to change.
A willingness to learn new skills.
