Electrify Video Partners is a dynamic new digital media company that invests in and scales creators with an established YouTube presence. Fireship is the biggest software engineering channel on YouTube, providing high-intensity code tutorials as well as regular news videos covering the topics every programmer should know.

We are looking for an experienced news editor to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for writing pacy and informative scripts for videos about the latest developments in the world of programming. They will work together with the creator to turn trending information into daily and weekly videos that make Fireship an essential destination for coders, via content that hooks their attention - and keeps them coming back. They will report to Electrify's Head Of Publishing and work closely with the rest of the team to ensure that the videos are informative, entertaining, and aligned with the latest trends in coding culture.

Tasks
Transform trending information into engaging and accessible content for coders and aspiring coders
Write, revise, and edit scripts for videos with a focus on accuracy and engaging storytelling
Monitor news sites and competitor channels to ensure we respond quickly to the latest developments in the world of programming
Optimise scripts for YouTube and SEO best practice, working closely with the Channel Manager
Ensure that scripts align with the visual direction of the videos and meet overall content goals
Collaborate closely with the team to ensure accuracy and clarity in narratives
Requirements
Strong passion for the world of coding, with a deep understanding of the community and the contours of the daily online conversation
Being deeply involved in coding, tech, and software development, Staying updated on all the news and never missing any important headlines.
Proven experience in writing news videos or articles for a digital publisher or fast-paced content business
A portfolio showcasing writing ability, attention to detail, and ability to communicate technical details ideas in a clear and engaging way
Able to replicate the unique, quirky, and humorous tone and style of the channel.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality content that meets the standards of the YouTube channel
Digital marketing experience, especially with regards to PPC advertising and YouTube-driven e-commerce, would be a plus, but not an essential requirement
Ability to work loosely in line with US West Coast office hours would be a plus, but not an essential requirement
