Lead Artist (UGC)

Edinburgh

As a Lead Artist working with our UGC team, you will take charge of defining the artistic vision for User Generated Content (UGC) while managing a talented team of artists to deliver AAA-quality environments, assets, and tools. Your leadership and expertise will empower both players and team members to create visually stunning, immersive, and engaging game content. This is a leadership role that requires a blend of artistic talent, technical knowledge, and strong management skills.

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a small team of UGC artists, fostering creativity, collaboration, and professional growth.
Vision & Standards: Help define and maintain the artistic requirements for UGC assets, ensuring they meet both quality and performance benchmarks.
Pipeline Development: Collaborate with technical artists and engineers to establish efficient workflows and pipelines for UGC art creation.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with content designers, programmers, and other stakeholders to align artistic goals with gameplay and technical requirements.
Review & Feedback: Provide constructive feedback on team deliverables and ensure consistent quality across all UGC-related art.
Innovation & Trends: Stay ahead of industry trends in UGC and game art, driving innovation and the adoption of new tools and techniques.
Project Management: Prioritize tasks, manage deadlines, and allocate resources effectively to meet project milestones.
Requirements
Portfolio: An impressive portfolio showcasing your work in environment art, UGC tools, or similar content, demonstrating a strong eye for detail and quality.
Experience: Proven experience as a senior or lead artist in the games industry, with a track record of delivering high-quality art.
Leadership Skills: Experience managing or mentoring a team, with a focus on fostering collaboration and achieving collective goals.
Technical Knowledge: Proficiency in industry-standard tools (Unreal Engine 5, Unity, 3DS Max, Maya, Blender and Photoshop) and an understanding of performance optimization.
Artistic Expertise: Deep knowledge of composition, lighting, and visual storytelling, with the ability to guide others in achieving artistic excellence.
Problem Solving: Strong ability to address technical and artistic challenges in a fast-paced development environment.
