Motion Graphics Artist

London hybrid HYBRID

Mercer is seeking an experienced Motion Graphics Artist to join our Impact Team.

The Motion Graphics Artist is responsible for delivering animations and video edits, working closely with the Communication Consultant and/or project Design Lead in managing the end-to-end project delivery.


Other responsibilities are, but not limited to: creating and maintaining templated off-the-shelf animations and motion graphics for clients; participating in brand development for clients; supporting internal marketing teams with short-form videos and animations (social media, gifs)

The Motion Graphics Artist must be proactive, looking to add value and continually develop whilst taking pride in delivering/working with the Impact Team.

We will rely on you to:

Manage and deliver creative animations for internal and external clients in a variety of styles and adapting to different client requirements (e.g. text animation, character animation, video editing, motion graphics, explainer and how-to videos, etc.).
Successfully deliver own tasks/activities or as directed by the Design Lead/Consultant.
Liaise with both internal and external stakeholders and be able to identify the creative requirements for successful and cost-effective engagement of the clients' employees.
Produce animations to a high standard and be responsible for the design brief, including liaising with the creative lead and requesting advice, stage development meetings where necessary to ensure it meets client expectations and always before final approval/delivery.
Interpret the script and create the animation concept based on the requirements, budget restrictions and within visual guidelines created by the project design lead.
Create storyboards that depict the narrative from the scripts provided.
Communicate progress and managing expectations at every stage of the design and build process for the smooth running of work and planning schedules.
Collaborate with the design team to ensure the integrity of the original concept.
Understand and work within brand and corporate guidelines where relevant.
Use your experience and knowledge to identify and resolve design challenges.
Travel to client offices for communication consultations (when required).
Work within a budget (set in hours) and complete the project within the allocated budget.
Continually look for innovative formats, products and/or approaches that could be packaged and sold as part of the Communications offering.
Provide the business with best value by estimating and managing time accurately ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality.
Train other designers on the team in the use of templated/off-the-shelf animation deliverables created by the animator.
What you need to have:

Proven design industry/agency experience.
Excellent CS skills - particularly in AfterEffects, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, InDesign.
A portfolio demonstrating a diverse range of digital based work and clients.
Strong understanding of the 12 principles of animation.
Strong understanding of the video production pipeline: Pre-production, production, post-production and the roles / stages involved in each.
Close attention to detail.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
A team player who is able to adapt and support and find creative solutions for the team.
Ability to explain in an articulate manner, the thinking and rationale behind the creative/approach.
