The team

Our News team delivers high quality and trustworthy television and online coverage that regularly attracts audiences in excess of 3.5 million viewers. It's a fast moving environment with a huge variety of roles and challenges on offer. We operate in 11 main news production centres across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands. We also have a Political Unit and a Weather centre based in Millbank, London.

We produce a range of current affairs & factual programming out of ITV Wales, UTV and ITV Border.

The role

At ITV Cymru Wales, we tell stories of the wide range of people who make up our community across Wales. Our newsroom strives to reflect the diversity of Wales. We are looking for a Production Specialist to join our award winning team - to film and deliver live news programmes and bulletins and current affairs - in both English and Welsh.

As a Production Specialist, you will work as part of a multi-skilled team that provide technical, craft, operational and administrative skills across all areas of the news service, primarily based at our newsroom and studio in Cardiff Bay.

To be eligible for this role, candidates should relish the opportunity to meet members of the public and film their stories. You'll be working on the road and in the news gallery. Therefore you must be able to work to deadlines, be quick thinking and calm under pressure and be able to react quickly to last minute changes that often happen in a live studio environment.

You must be willing, and have the aptitude, to develop your skills further and to move between different duties on a daily basis as the needs of a busy and vibrant news operation requires. You'll also be happy to share your own skills with others.

The rostered hours may include weekend working, late shifts as well as early morning shifts.

As a Production Specialist, you will be a highly motivated individual as well as friendly and approachable.

You will be committed to working as part of a successful team, sharing the responsibility for supporting news production. Being an excellent communicator with strong and decisive decision-making skills.



Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)
Experience of filming content and meeting members of the public.
Experience of already working in live studio situations, working well under pressure and to tight deadlines would be an advantage.
Demonstrate the ability to build on current skills, and where necessary learn new skills.
A clean driving license
