Animation Coordinator

London

BAFTA award winning animation company in London requires a full time Animation Coordinator on Ben and Holly's Little Kingdom, Series 2. The key role of the Animation Coordinator will be the central liaison between the animation director, animation team-leaders and animators. The Animation Coordinator also functions as a key point of contact for the other departments of the production (layout, design, production and editorial).

The successful candidate will have a passion for and a solid understanding of the animation process and principles of animation. They will have strong technical computer skills and will work closely with the animation teams, directors and production manager.

Tasks include:
watch the animatics of episodes before they go into production.
investigate asset management systems for Scenes and QuickTime files.
managing re-use of animation from old episodes and similar scenes between teams
take notes during the layout review, blocking and animation meetings.
divide up the scenes for the animators under direction of the animation director and team-leader of each episode in a way to ensure that each animator is being cast correctly and that workload is spread equally.
share the workload of briefing animators on changes after reviews with the directors with the animation director
chase footage of animators and team-leaders
informing animators about changes in the schedule.
share the task of rendering scenes for reviews and delivery with the team-leaders.
file management: creating file backups for the animation department and tidy up folders/scenes after the animators have completed episodes.
Liaise with the software developers (CelAction)

Key Skills and Attributes:
an understanding of the animation process and traditional animation principles
strong computers skills essential; experience in CelAction preferable but not necessary
ability to communicate with colleagues and work as part of a team
ability to work with a minimum of supervision and ability to problem solve
exceptional communication and organisational skills
have a calm, methodical approach in a fast paced, high pressured studio
