At Zinc, we work with our clients and partners on content that promotes positive social change around the world. We are now looking for a production researcher for an exciting new investigative current affairs documentary that we are making about an important social issue affecting many countries in Africa.Based in London and reporting to the producer, you will be responsible for researching the topic; suggesting and researching stories; finding contributors and experts; setting up shoots in different countries; and helping organise logistics. You'll also be responsible for factchecking the script, and transcribing rushes as required.With a passion for YouTube and social media and several years' experience of TV production, including experience of current affairs or journalism, you will be resourceful, curious and brimming with ideas. You will also be passionate about politics and social issues, and able to research complex topics in order to find compelling angles and stories and present them in a clear and effective way. You will have experience of identifying and onboarding contributors and experts, and you will ideally have experience of international production. Knowledge of Africa would be a bonus.This is a fast-paced production with an intense schedule, so you'll need to be organised, efficient and with a can-do attitude to meeting deadlines.You are expected to: * Do desk research into social topics to pull out key facts, angles and stories, and present your findings clearly and effectively * Find and onboard relevant contributors and experts in African countries * Find great and relevant archive * Write question lists and production briefs * Coordinate with local production team, contributors, influencers and partners * Organise logistics of shoots * Maintain schedules and trackers * Prepare Powerpoints and documents to present contributors and stories etc * Fact check scripts * Transcribe rushes as requiredRequirements * Understanding of YouTube and other social media platforms, video production, and current affairs * Excellent research skills * Excellent contributor finding and management skills * Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal * Excellent time management and organisational skills * Ability to quickly build warm and authentic relationships * Positive and flexible 'can-do' attitude and willingness to solve problems * Attention to detail * Experience of current affairs or journalistic TV production in a researcher roleIt would be great if you also had: * Knowledge/experience of Africa * Experience of production abroad
