We are now on the hunt for an Experienced Animation Director who will join us in our quest to create the best possible animated content for our partners.This role will be needed from 05 of August 2024 and the term of this contract will be 31st of January 2025.Rick and Morty is a classified 16+ show and while the subject matter of the show is presented in a fantasy or comic context, the production may contain contextually justified strong language, references to sex, drugs, horror, threat, and/or violence of a non-gratuitous nature, which some applicants may find objectionable. Applicant discretion is therefore advised.About the roleThe Animation Director takes the brief from the series director and leads the animation department. Responsible for leading the team and proving notes and feedback to the animation team. We really value can-do attitudes here at Lighthouse. If you're someone who thinks outside the box and looks for solutions, not problems, then you'll fit right in!What you'll be doingTo study the animation style and Series Director's vision and the objectives of the show and deliver the show as per the production scheduleReview the artwork and animatics ahead of animation and make recommendations to the Series Director and team for how to achieve each sceneReview and approve all animation delivered by the Animation Supervisor & LeadDirect the overall animation look for the show based on the input of the Series DirectorFollow direction given by the client on animation along with addressing any notes with the team, offering creative solutions to retakes requested by the clientAdhere to instructions of Series Director and Production Manager to meet creative standard and production deadlinesIdentify and report any potential problems or delays as early as possibleAddress any problems with the Animation Supervisors, Leads, Production Manager and Production CoordinatorCommunicate progress of work to the Production Manager and Line ProducerEnsure quality and style of show is consistently achieved in animation work and that all notes/retakes are addedSupport and mentor Animation Supervisors to achieve their weekly goalsConduct the periodical review of the Animation Supervisors as indicated in their contractReview messages on messaging systems and emails during working hoursThe above is not exhaustive and from time to time you may be asked to carry out other tasks.What we're looking for2+ years experience working as an Animation DirectorAdvanced knowledge in Toonboom HarmonyStrong understanding of traditional 2D animation principlesExcellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent time management skills and the ability to prioritize workProven leadership and motivational skillsAttention to details and problem-solving skillsExperience using Flow/Shotgrid is considered a plusWhat we'll offer youWhen you join Lighthouse Studios, you will be joining a diverse and multicultural crew in the beautiful neo-Gothic building of Kieran's College, based in the heart of medieval Kilkenny.
