Journalist

Manchester / Hybrid HYBRID

As a member of the LADbible Group Editorial Team, you will work as a journalist on the UNILAD brand to write articles which present our audience with a window into the world; making complex topics accessible to everyone while having fun along the way.

Using awareness of current news, trends and viral content, you will produce multiple quality articles at speed to both engage and maximise audience potential with the help of sources provided by our social editors. The preferred candidate would be locked into social and across the biggest stories of the day, and able to spot stories suitable for our brand.

By responding to audience feedback and using stats to monitor the success of articles, you will help to improve the quality of articles and use your utilise creative skills to enhance the LADbible Group brand image.

What the opportunity looks like:

Maintaining impeccable grammar while creating approximately 8-10 trending articles of around 400 words each day, with the help of sources provided by our social editors
A strong understanding of the tone of each LADbible Group brand
Ensure all deadlines and quotas are met within set timeframes
Ensuring editorial execution across the websites
Continually pitching original ideas and follow-up angles for the biggest stories across our brands
Growing and utilising contacts for leads
Opportunities to interview some of the biggest stars in pop culture
Coverage of some of the world's biggest events, such as the Oscars and the Super Bowl
Remaining proactive by researching and seeking the latest news, trends, gossip and reports ahead of competitors
Working as a proactive member of LADbible Group Editorial team
Actively contributing to team meetings, pitches and article ideas
Monitoring user activity on articles and using it to inform pitches for original content and follow-up stories
Qualitative and Quantitative: daily monitoring of content performance (shares, likes, comments, clicks)

Skills and experience we'd like you to have:

Have a journalistic background with trending news experience of creating multiple articles each day and covering breaking news in minutes
NCTJ qualified
Target driven and the ability to meet tight deadlines
A demonstrably high standard of written English
A proven ability to think, imagine and produce new and original ideas whilst continually delivering unique and engaging content in the LADbible tone
Outstanding writing, research and writing skills
Proven SEO knowledge/experience
Experienced user of Microsoft Office
