Junior Broadcast Engineer - An exciting new opportunity to help make radio and television at News UK, working as part of the Broadcast Technology team.The Team:You'll be joining and leading a supportive and collaborative team of broadcast engineers, working together to share knowledge, develop skills and help make brilliant radio and TV. The team are responsible for complex studio and broadcast systems, managing them to ensure high quality, uninterrupted transmissions.Your Role:As a Junior Broadcast Engineer, reporting to the Lead Broadcast Support Engineer, you will be joining a team of 8 shift engineers responsible for the support, maintenance, fault management, and readiness of News UK broadcast systems and networks, both at our London studios and on location at outside broadcasts. You will work a shift pattern which includes early, late and weekend working, taking part in an on-call rota to respond to urgent technical issues outside standard hours.Day to day you will:Provide customer-focussed support for broadcast technology usersMaintain and solve problems with hardware and software in studios and racks roomsSeize every opportunity to grow and develop your skillsWork with outside companies and internal departments to promptly resolve faultsTest and fix equipmentPerform quality and line tests with external contributorsBook, configure and test satellite feeds for sporting and news eventsConfigure equipment to meet operational needsProvide support for Outside BroadcastsDocument systems, processes and proceduresKeep studios, racks rooms, stores and technology offices safe and tidyImplement new systems to support changing broadcast requirementsUnderstand transmission chains and audio processing for broadcastWhat we're looking for from you:Some knowledge and experience of broadcast media technologiesSome experience of television and/or radio studio operationsAn understanding of professional audio and video signal pathsA passion for delivering exceptional customer serviceGood numerical and written skillsAwareness of IP-based technologiesSome knowledge of broadcast playout and scheduling systemsA positive attitude with exceptional client-facing interpersonal skills for written, oral and face-to-face communicationsThe ability to assess risk and work in a safe manner at all times
