Producer (attached to Original Journalism Unit)

ITV News is seeking a producer to work within our Original Journalism unit on attachment basis to cover maternity leave.

It is a role that is focused on creating original journalism, with an emphasis on developing and delivering distinctive stories for all platforms, that make ITV News stand out from our competitors. We want someone with a multitude of ideas who will create distinctive journalism, stay ahead of the curve, and break stories. The successful candidate must have TV journalism experience and should also have a strong understanding of how to deliver for digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
Work closely with the unit Content Editor and the rest of the team to develop and deliver original stories
Help to co-ordinate and develop ideas generated from staff across all departments in the Newsroom
The ability to be multi-skilled and work across input, output and digital platforms
A clear vision and understanding of how to uncovering exclusive stories from around the nation
Passionate about original journalism with clear examples of distinctive stories they have delivered
Ability to cover the unit Content Editor at times, liaising with the Head of Content, Head of Home and Foreign News and the Head of Investigations to identify, develop and deliver original stories
Knowledge and experience of investigative journalism tools e.g.,open-source journalism and data journalism
Enthusiastic about delivering fresh approaches to newsgathering and embracing new technologies
Pitch and deliver coverage ideas that have real impact and that show a deep understanding of the ITV News audience
Develop stories for online audiences as well as television viewers, bringing inventive treatments to our digital platforms
Can cover breaking news and travel at short notice when required
Able to juggle competing demands and deliver under pressure
Creativity in developing ideas for filming pieces

Key Requirements
A good understanding of all news technologies used in the field and to embrace new technologies
A good understanding of news priorities and an ability to turn that into polished television for national news - including constructing packages from an input and output perspective
A commitment to creating news coverage that reflects the diversity of Britain's communities
High-quality news judgement and the initiative to work independently or as part of a team
Calm under pressure in all environments, and able to adapt to a changing situation
Capable of working to tight deadlines
A creative and innovative approach to stories and newsgathering
Strong background and awareness of digital and non linear platforms and audiences
Understanding of the need to be flexible on working times and hours
Thorough understanding of legal and ethical issues surrounding broadcast journalism and knowledge of Ofcom guidelines
Work in accordance with ITN Health and Safety and Compliance guidelines
