Countryfile, BBC1's prime time series, is looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Researcher, with a strong journalistic track-record and experience in factual TV. This is an exciting opportunity to investigate current affairs stories on Countryfile covering farming, environment, wildlife, crime and social issues.Working to the Rural Affairs' Producer, you'll play a crucial role in planning, researching and bringing these investigations to one of the BBC's biggest audiences. Every week, Countryfile is at the centre of rural affairs television in the UK with BBC presenters and journalists Tom Heap and Charlotte Smith. We want Countryfile to lead the news agenda, to dig more deeply into stories that really matter to those living in the countryside. You will need to be tenacious, resilient and hard-working, as part of a team delivering more than 40 investigations a year. Ideally, you'll be a journalist with a passion for rural affairs. You'll have experience digging out stories that matter, and finding exclusive story lines to bring fresh insight to rural affairs. Your diverse responsibilities will include setting up and scheduling outdoor shoots, working on location, meeting tight deadlines under pressure, ensuring all content is thoroughly researched and meets the BBC's editorial standards, and carrying out duties in accordance with Health and Safety regulations.You will have knowledge of the main organisations working in rural Britain and of the key players setting the countryside agenda. Highly organised, you will possess excellent teamworking and scheduling skills. With experience of working in TV production as a researcher, you will have knowledge of the production process and some amount of technical know-how.This freelance role is Bristol based with some opportunities for hybrid working.
