Junior Shooter/Editor - Commercial Video

Reporting of the Role

This role will report to Executive Producer - Commercial Video

Overview of job

As a junior shooter/editor you will be editing, shooting and recording content for our commercial video team across all of Global's brands. As part of the team, you'll be working on a wide variety of content across all of Global's social media platforms.

The successful candidate will be completely at home in the digital world - an avid consumer of digital content with an in depth understanding of what we and other publishers are doing and some great technical knowledge and training to help make our projects happen. We have some of the UK's biggest and most engaged social audiences across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter so you will be helping making content which a lot of people see.

You will require a good knowledge of Adobe Premiere and there will be plenty of opportunities to get hands-on with cameras and lighting. Experience with After Effects and Photoshop is also important.

You'll be enthusiastic and eager to learn, and quick at adapting to the needs of the video department. You'll be proud to show off your work, have an eye for detail and work closely with a wide range of team members throughout the department.

Measures of success -


In the first few months, you would have:

Trained on our department servers, ingest and archive processes

Be able to shoot and edit content for brands across our social platforms

Trained to work in the Video Control Room and green screen studio and have a good handle on our in-house cameras and kit

Responsibilities of the role

Be able to edit speedily and to a high standard

Assist members of the team - Editor and Producer

Be a competent shooter and work directly with commercial producers

Film and edit content from our green screen studio

Vision Mix interviews and content from radio studios

Work closely with video content producers on Heart, Capital & Capital Xtra, Radio X and LBC

Occasional travel for on location shoots

What you will need

Camera skills - ideally with the Sony FX6 or A7S range and associated accessories.

Editing skills - Premiere Pro knowledge is a must and other Creative Cloud apps is a bonus.

Graphics skills - basic knowledge of after effects and photoshop

Lighting skills - basic knowledge of various lighting techniques.

Vision mixing - multi-camera vision mixing experience is an advantage but not a necessity.

The ability to create high-quality video content to a tight deadline.
